Coral & Hive

Coral & Hive is a natural, home and interior brand, producing and showcasing beautiful handwoven rugs. We are based in Somerset West, South Africa, just outside Cape Town.

We employ some of the most talented weavers in South Africa, who are at the very heart of our business, and whose skills have been passed down for generations. Nazeema, our head weaver, has been weaving for over 30 years. Our goal is to inspire people to make considered choices, and to understand how, where and by whom their furnishings are made.

Each season brings fresh new designs as the Coral & Hive rug collection grows and evolves, embodying the energy, craft and innovation of South Africa’s ‘Mother City’, Cape Town. Colours and patterns are limitless and with our purpose built traditional looms we are able to weave custom rugs up to 5m x 6m rugs, using pure, handspun karakul wool, cotton or mohair.
Whether it is something specific you have in mind for yourself or for a client, or are simply looking for some help and inspiration, we will work with you to create a unique and bespoke piece for your home

Deborah Davies is our Cape Town showroom manager, she always has a smile and will take you carefully through our whole collection and all our fibre types so you can design your special rug.
We invite you to book and visit our traditional looms and showroom, where you can get lost in the weavers soft singing as they patiently bring these beautiful rugs to life.
At our showroom you will also find our full rug collection on display, including those from Armadillo&Co, a company producing rugs out of India with a very similar ethos to that of Coral & Hive. It’s an inspiring space, with all local showcased furnishings available to order upon request.
